Are you aware that there are neighboring states that control tow and storage fees? Do you think Arkansas is immune from an attempt by special interest groups through the legislature to attempt the same kind of thing here at home? You are right .. they will try. What can you do?

First you need to make sure you join or renew you membership with PTRAA.

Second, get to know your representative, your senator .. participate in the upcoming election process. Make sure your district is electing people that are "small business friendly."

Finally, participate in PTRAA meetings and/or contact your association office or board member, make sure your concerns and problems are known.

Although the legislative session seems far off we must begin planning now. The PTRAA board of directors and your staff wants and needs input from all members, from all parts of the state. To be successful we must speak with one strong voice.

What ideas do you have? What would you like to see on the PTRAA legislative agenda? Any successful organization has an open communication with its leadership. As a member you are urged to call your officers, your regional director or the executive director and share your thoughts and ideas.

What will be on the legislators agenda in 2013? Who knows...but I can promise this, it will be far different than what you and I wouid envision for the betterment of the industry and certainly this will be true without our input and influence. Plan now on being active. Plan now on making contributions at the local levels to candidates that are "business friendly" and will listen to industry concerns.

Remember this .. in the legislative and regulatory arena as a business owner, as a tow and recovery operator you are a participant whether you want to be or not. You are either a player or a victim. It's your choice. Team up with PTRAA and improve your chances, our chances of success. Be a Player!!
