Nine Ways to KILL PTRAA and make It a Less Effective Association
1. Don’t participate beyond paying your dues-let “them” handle things. Then complain you had no voice in the decision.
2. If appointed to a committee, don’t work or attend the meetings-it’s a courtesy appointment. Then you can complain that the organization has stagnated.
3. Decline all office and committee appointments; after all you are too busy. Then after the fact give advice on how things should have been done.
4. If you attend meetings, don’t initiate new ideas. Then you can play devil’s advocate to those submitted by others.
5. Don’t rush to pay your dues-they’re too high anyway. Then complain about poor management and limited staff.
6. Don’t encourage others to become members. Then complain that membership is not growing.
7. Don’t read the newsletter or other communications, they’re not important. Then complain that you’re not in the loop or kept informed.
8. Don’t volunteer your talents-that’s just your ego talking. Then complain that you’re never asked and underappreciated.
9. Don’t take any chances on new ideas or untried procedures. Let someone else put their reputation on the line, then enjoy the benefits that come from another’s leap of faith.
PTRAA needs you first as a member, then as an active participant. My door is open. My schedule is your schedule. There is really no excuse not to belong to PTRAA. You are needed, THINK about It.
